Coastal rides in Arequipa

Perol Chico has been offering horseback riding vacations and adventures from our ranch in the Sacred Valley for almost three decades. Over the years, this part of the Peruvian Andes has become a prime destination for tourists visiting South America, with the main attractions being Cusco and Machu Picchu. However, our country has so much more and many other beautiful places to offer.

We are excited to expand our horse riding activities and adventures beyond our current location and bring the beauty and hidden marvels of other parts of Peru to our guests.

For our coastal rides in Arequipa, we partnered with our long-time friend Claudio Cavallero, who owns a prestigious horse breeding operation in Arequipa with a herd of nearly 100 horses. 

In the past, between 2009 and 2014, Perol Chico organised several riding expeditions in the coastal desert of Arequipa with Claudio's help and support.

Eduard and Claudio are re-joining forces with one common objective: offering the most incredible and spectacular horse riding experiences in Peru.

Arequipa, known as the “White City” for its stunning colonial architecture built from pale volcanic rock, is a captivating destination that effortlessly weaves history, culture, and natural beauty together. Nestled in the shadow of three majestic volcanoes—Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu—Arequipa is the starting point of our new and epic coastal rides in 2024.

We are proud to introduce two coastal rides:

• The Humboldt Ride is our 8-day/7-night horse riding journey.

• The San José Ride is our 4-day/3-night horse riding adventure.

Both rides can be offered year-round on any available date.
