Coastal rides in Arequipa

Perol Chico has offered horseback riding vacations from our Sacred Valley ranch for nearly three decades. While Cusco and Machu Picchu draw most visitors to the Peruvian Andes, our country holds many other remarkable landscapes to explore.

 

We are now expanding beyond our home base to share the hidden marvels of Peru, beginning with our new coastal desert rides in Arequipa. For these journeys, Eduard has partnered once again with long-time friend Claudio Cavallero, a renowned breeder with nearly 100 horses. From 2009 to 2014, Perol Chico and Claudio led unforgettable expeditions in this region — and now, together, they bring back the most spectacular riding experiences along Peru’s dramatic Pacific coast.

 

Arequipa, the “White City,” enchants with colonial architecture of pale volcanic stone and the backdrop of three soaring volcanoes — Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu. It is here that our new adventures begin.

• The Humboldt Ride is our 8-day/7-night horse riding journey.

• The San José Ride is our 4-day/3-night horse riding adventure.

Both rides can be offered year-round on any available date.
