La Pagina en la Puerta is a children's library founded in December 2005 by Amy Bakal, to promote the love of reading and literacy for the local children of Cusco, Peru. Through positive reading experiences children have the opportunity to improve their self-esteem. The free neighborhood library is serving the children of the Urbanizacion Santa Rosa in Cusco and is helping children and adolescents to develop a passion for reading and to improve their reading skills using the collection of some 1,400 fiction and non-fiction titles. Space and assistance are provided where students may do their homework. Library staff takes its programs to children who are patients at the Cusco Regional Hospital through weekly visits.

Perol Chico and many of our clients support the library with yearly financial contributions as well as bringing supplies.
